Hi All,

Thanks for the amazing software. Please I have a very fundamental question and appreciate thoughts on this.

In a two-level RBDO process please how is surrogate construction, reliability and optimization integrated or connected. I just want to understand the flow pattern of these three aspects of RBDO and purpose of each stage to the overall RBDO concept.

Hi @aokoro ,

In the two-level RBDO, the surrogate model is built prior to starting the optimization. The surrogate is built adaptively in the augmented space so as to be accurate in the vicinity of the limit state surface.

The optimization is then carried out and at each iteration the chosen reliability estimation algorithm is used to estimate the probability of failure associated to the current design. The reliability estimation is carried out using the built surrogate model.
